For the second year in a row The Meadows at Mystic Lakes will be hosting the Land O’ Lakes Legends Classic.  They say when things go well there’s no need to reinvent the wheel. That is exactly what Michele Redman (four-time Legends champion) and co-owner of the event Jim Lehman (Medalist Management) plan to do.  Last year’s inaugural event saw a strong field of women’s golfers competing with the eventual winner Juli Inkster (former 3-time Solheim Cup Captain with 45 professional wins) taking home the LOLL trophy.

The Land O’ Lakes Legends is a large field tournament filled with former LPGA champions and a handful of esteemed amateurs.  Legends of the LPGA is the official senior tour of the LPGA providing a showcase schedule for fans to enjoy their favorite players and see some of the greatest women golfers of all time up-close and personal.  The 2021 Prior Lake event saw the likes of Nancy Lopez, Rosie Jones (runner-up), Juli Inkster (eventual winner), Michelle McGann and others.

The women’s senior tour started play in 2000 under the founding guidance of 25 veteran LPGA Tour professionals.  Today the Legends members include 15 LPGA and World Golf Hall of Fame players with an amazing combined 750 LPGA Tour victories, which includes 84 major championships.  These numbers highlight the fact that these are the elite players in the women’s game.  Maybe even more impressive, and more importantly is the fact that the league has generated nearly $24 million for charity.  The hosting Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community will welcome an even stronger field to this year’s tournament which is slated for August 12-13 and is guaranteed to deliver another unforgettable 3-day golf experience to fans in the upper Midwest.  The $25 per day ticket with free parking is a great deal for spectators.

The Meadows at Mystic Lakes Golf Course is a wonderful track. Since it’s opening in 2005 the golf course has seen its fair share of prestigious awards and recognition from all corners of the golfing world including Golf DigestGolfweek, and Midwest Gaming and Travel.  The esteemed architect duo of Garrett Gill and Paul Miller teamed up and brought The Meadows at Mystic Lake course back to life from the former Lone Pine Country Club bones into the challenging, atheistic masterpiece it is today.  The water features, including rock-strewn falls, gentle ponds and natural wetlands seem to appear at every hole.  Interspersed is a collection of iron statues representing our majestic Midwest wildlife is another great visual element on the course, adding to the overall feel and look of the layout.  Riding the picturesque course on one of the well-equipped, GPS carts is almost as much fun as hitting a good 7-iron into the tough 18th green. With 11 acres of wildflowers, prairie plants, sprawling water hazards, bent grass fairways, tees, and greens combined with the extra attention given to the man-made elements adds up to make The Meadows at Mystic Lakes one of the most enticing courses in the Twin Cities area.   You will get no argument from the ladies of LPGA on that.

The Mystic Lakes Casino ability to host an event like an LPGA Tournament is endless.  The on-site amenities and options for entertainment reach far beyond the golf.  Tournament visitors will find exclusive spectator bargains in addition to a group of rooms set aside specifically to accommodate attendees at special rates. The Mystic Lake Casino Hotel is your basecamp for fun while you stay in the well-appointed, luxurious rooms. The complex has ten bars and restaurants, an on-site spa, a world-class entertainment calendar with loads of marquee names and free valet parking to get your stay started and ended on the right note. All this hospitality is just steps away from one of the Midwest’s largest gaming floors. Open 24/7… it’s a virtual playground.

If you ‘Follow the Lights’ to the base of the iconic teepee in the Prior Lake sky, you will find the action is nonstop. The variety of gaming options is like a smorgasbord of excitement. Everything from Bingo, to Blackjack, to Progressive Slots, to Video Poker where all the fun is pulled together with daily special promotions.  It’s a good idea to stay on your toes to take advantage of all the giveaways, drawings, and gaming promo’s.  There’s a good chance you may go home with more than just your memories of a great golf tournament.

The corporate sponsor for this stop on the Legends of the LPGA Tour is Land O’Lakes, Inc.  Their global headquarters are located on the other side of the Twin Cities in Arden Hills.  Land O’Lakes, Inc. is one of the country’s premier agribusiness and food companies.  The company is strongly structured as a member-owned cooperative with industry-leading operations that services everything from agricultural production to consumer foods. With 2021 annual sales of $16 billion, Land O’Lakes is one of the nation’s largest cooperatives, ranking 219 on the Fortune 500. Partnering with community sponsors is a big part of the Legends Tour agenda and The Land O’ Lakes event at the Meadows at Mystic Lakes is no different.  It is an opportunity to showcase brands by participating on the course in the Pro-Am event on Friday, August 12th, or even purchasing a playing foursome.  Both approaches will offer an unforgettable day of high-impact exposure and plenty of fun.  Enjoy all the benefits tournament sponsorship has to offer – from playing with a Legend to a bundle of tournament tickets to share with your associates.  The sponsorship package includes all or most of the following – 4 golfers in the pro-am paired with one LPGA Legend, 4 Tickets to the Pro-Am Awards Reception, 4 Tournament Gift Bags, 4 Pro-Am Lunches & Beverages on the Course, Logo on Tournament Sponsor Recognition Board, Full-page Digital Ad in Official Tournament Program, Logo / Link on Tournament Website, Recognition on Tournament Social Media Platforms and 24 Complimentary Tournament Tickets.  As you can see, the win-win for sponsorship involvement is significant.

It’s thrilling for Minnesota golf fans to have access to the game’s elite players.  The 3M Open and The Land O’ Lakes Legends are the types of high-profile golf events that this corner of the country has been yearning for.  Given that Minnesota has one of the highest game participation rates per capita in the country it is not surprising that the galleries at these events welcome the professionals with open arms. This August is the perfect opportunity to ‘Follow the Lights’ to some of that action and cheer defending champ Juli Inkster and the rest of the Legends of the LPGA in person.
