Arnie’s At The Royal Golf Club – Arnie’s Restaurant Legacy In Lake Elmo

By Tim Cotroneo

You can see, feel, and even taste the legacy of Arnold Palmer at the new Arnie’s restaurant at the Royal Golf Club. Hints of Arnold are everywhere you turn at this spacious 26,000 square foot bistro offering sweeping views of the Lake Elmo countryside.

A few years prior to Arnold’s passing in 2016, his good friend and Royal Golf Club catalyst Hollis Cavner began formulating the idea of a golf course combining the design talents of Palmer and Annika Sorenstam. Today’s Arnie’s is a classy restaurant tribute to The King’s contribution to golf, as well as his long-time connection with Minnesota.

Restaurant guests are met with the immediate presence of Arnold that’s revealed in a painting on your right as you enter. The painting was created by America’s Got Talent speed painter David Garibaldi. Beyond Arnold’s silhouette your gaze is drawn to the panoramic golf course views that frame the restaurants interior and patio seating area.

“The road to success is always under construction.” – Arnold Palmer
Golfers eagerly eye the opening of the Royal Golf Club in the spring of 2018. Like an Arnie’s appetizer, the grand opening of the Royal Golf Club’s new restaurant is a savory preview into the world of Minnesota’s newest golf course. Cavner’s course construction team wanted everything to be perfect before showcasing an 18-hour layout in which one nine speaks to Annika’s design talents and the other represents Palmer’s last course signature. For now, Arnie’s will satisfy your taste buds until your golf expectations can be exceeded next year.

For St. Croix Valley foodie enthusiasts, Arnie’s offers a show-stopping venue for a relaxing lunch getaway, happy hour, classic evening dining, business meetings, weddings, and of course, a picturesque option for watching golf on Sunday afternoons.

The Arnie’s restaurant brass handpicked the best culinary talent and service personnel in anticipation of delivering a superb dining experience in 2017 and beyond. The restaurant shimmers with energy as wide-eyed customers seem as happy to take in the new surroundings as Arnie’s team aims to please. Open up the menu and you’ll find touches of Arnie throughout

“Concentration comes out of confidence and hunger.” – Arnold Palmer
After visiting Arnie’s, the last thing you’ll be is hungry. The restaurant’s carefully devised menu is formulated to fulfill every taste. You’ll detect a menu charm with the golfer in mind.

If there were any doubt how deep Arnold’s roots are interconnected with Lake Elmo’s newest eating establishment, ask Chef Joe Nagel to share how he prepared chicken for Palmer when The King resided across the street from Cavner during the early days of Minnesota Champions Tour Golf. If you request Arnie’s Southern Fried Chicken with honey biscuit potatoes, you’ll be served the same buttermilk recipe that Arnold devoured.

Diners will also delight in The Master’s Beef Tenderloin Tips, Chip Shot Bruschetta, and The Green Jacket Salad. For out of town guests seeking a glimpse of Minnesota Nice, try the Wild Rice Croquette, Tomahawk Pork Chop or North Shore Walleye. Arnie’s also features a homemade cheesecake dessert that is to die for.

“You must play boldly to win.” – Arnold Palmer
What you see today at Arnie’s is the tip of the iceberg for what’s to come. As nice as the restaurant and clubhouse surroundings are in 2017, what’s on tap for next year has the restaurant team grinning in ear-to-ear anticipation.

“Bookings for our wedding, banquet, and meeting rooms are already taking hold. These rooms offer some of the best views in the entire St. Croix Valley. Our outdoor area will soon include three fire pits for barbecues in the evening, as well as easy access restaurant facilities for golfers. We also look forward to having live music in our bar area,” Director of Hospitality Alana Koderick said.

As we transition into the season of fall colors, the indoor and outdoor views from Arnie’s will be epic. Minnesota’s restaurant honoring golf’s greatest ambassador should prove to be a great gathering place for sharing stories over a Latrobe area Birch Beer. Regardless of your reason for previewing St. Croix Valley’s newest golf course, Arnie’s restaurant is your chance to hoist an “Arnie Palmer” to honor the man who always made time for his admirers.
