Under new ownership since 2025, The Wilds has embraced a customer-first approach while continuing to enhance one of the Twin Cities area’s most respected golf courses. The result is a renewed commitment to service, significant clubhouse renovations, course improvements and exceptional playing conditions that are making a lasting impression on guests.

That emphasis on hospitality begins the moment golfers arrive at The Wilds. Staff members greet guests, assist with clubs, and strive to create a welcoming atmosphere before players ever step onto the first tee.

“The main points are service and guest service,” said Head Golf Professional Tom Gelle Huraly. “We’re taking that elevated service to the next level. We’re trying to be the best in Minnesota with friendly faces. You’re met with a smile. Your clubs are going to get cleaned and loaded up for you. We’re working on all the little things to enhance the player experience.”

The commitment continues throughout the round. The club has increased staffing levels to ensure golfers receive assistance both inside and outside the clubhouse.

“We added more staff working at the same time just to alleviate pressure,” Gelle Huraly explained. “That way someone can go out and assist players on the golf course, raking bunkers, finding balls and making sure everyone has a great experience.”

The customer-service initiative comes at a time when The Wilds is also investing heavily in its facilities. One of the most visible improvements has been an extensive transformation of the clubhouse. Over the past two years, multiple renovation projects have refreshed the property and created a clean, welcoming environment for golfers, diners, and event guests alike.

The first major project was a ballroom renovation completed in July 2025. The remodel included the addition of a permanent bar, updated fixtures, fresh paint and new carpeting. The momentum continued this past winter when The Wilds completed a comprehensive remodel of its restaurant and golf shop. The project began in December and wrapped up in early March, creating a fresh look throughout the clubhouse.

Part of that transformation included the rebranding of the restaurant, now known as Slate North. The updated dining space provides golfers and local residents with a comfortable setting to enjoy a meal, celebrate after a round, or gather with friends and family.

Beyond the clubhouse, The Wilds has continued to invest in the golf course itself. Last April marked the completion of a three-year bunker renovation project, enhancing both the aesthetics and playability of the course. More recently, the club completed improvements to the teeing areas on the seventh hole. The project expanded the back tee box by combining multiple teeing grounds into a larger space while also adding a new forward tee designed specifically to improve playability for women golfers.

“We added a new women’s tee across the bridge,” Gelle Huraly said. “Instead of a 170-yard shot up the hill, it’s now around 110 yards.”

The changes reflect a growing emphasis on making the course enjoyable and accessible for players of all skill levels while preserving the championship-caliber challenge that has long defined The Wilds.

Perhaps most impressive is the condition of the golf course itself. Head Superintendent Kris Johannsen and the maintenance team has delivered some of the best playing surfaces golfers will find anywhere in the region.

“The course came through the winter very well,” said Gelle Huraly. “The maintenance staff has done an amazing job.”

From manicured fairways and healthy greens to upgraded bunkers and improved tee boxes, the attention to detail is evident throughout the property. Combined with the clubhouse renovations and enhanced service culture, those conditions help create an experience that extends far beyond golf.
