More Than A Round Of Golf: Troy Burne Delivers A Complete Experience
By Steve Wetzler
In today’s golf landscape, great conditions alone are no longer enough. Golfers have countless options when choosing where to spend their time and money, making customer service, hospitality, and the overall experience just as important as the quality of the golf course itself. At Troy Burne Golf Club in Hudson, Wisconsin, those details are a defining part of the club’s identity.
Located just minutes from the Twin Cities, Troy Burne has long been recognized as one of the premier public golf destinations in the Upper Midwest. While the course’s championship layout continues to attract golfers from throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin, the team at Troy Burne is equally focused on creating an experience that keeps guests coming back year after year.
“We want people to really feel like they’re a member here when they’re here for the day,” said PGA Associate Brady Minich. “We treat everybody as such.”
That philosophy begins the moment guests arrive on property. “We’re continuing to focus on customer service and hospitality,” Minich said. “The bag staff is walking out to the cars to grab bags and makes sure everybody knows where they’re going if it’s their first time on property.”
The attention to detail extends throughout the entire operation. Whether golfers are checking in at the golf shop, practicing before their round, enjoying a meal after golf, or attending a special event, the goal remains the same: create a welcoming and memorable experience.
Of course, the golf course itself remains a centerpiece of that experience. This season, Troy Burne has continued investing in improvements throughout the property. Renovations to bunkers on the front nine are under way have already been completed on Hole No. 9, while work is nearly complete on the wall adjacent to the 17th green. The project will replace the previous structure with natural boulders that better complement the course’s surroundings.
Maintaining Troy Burne’s renowned playing conditions is a year-round effort led by Superintendent Mitch Fossey and his team. “Our superintendent Mitch Fossey has been here since the course was designed and built,” said Minich. “He’s built an incredible team that does an exceptional job with the efforts they’re putting in on a daily basis.”
The maintenance team faced many of the same winter challenges experienced throughout the region, but golfers visiting Troy Burne this season are finding lush fairways, healthy greens, and exceptional conditions. “Our maintenance team does such a fantastic job every day,” Minich said. “They keep this place going.”
Troy Burne is committed to catering to golfers of all ages with incredible Junior and Senior rates: $65 includes range balls walking only for Juniors under 18, and $110 for Seniors 60 and over $110 including golf car and range balls, Monday through Thursday, anytime.
Beyond the course, Troy Burne’s restaurant has become an increasingly important part of the overall guest experience. A newly updated menu has received rave reviews from golfers and local diners alike. “Our restaurant has new menu this year that’s been very well received,” said Minich. “The breakfast menu is very affordable – $6:00 for a breakfast sandwich or a burrito and we have skillets and Strawberry French Toast, making it easy for players to arrive early, relax, and enjoy a meal before heading to the first tee. We really have an amazing menu.”
The restaurant remains open daily until 9:00 p.m., and the staff often extends service even later if golfers are still finishing their rounds. “We make sure the restaurant stays open until the very last person is off the course in case they want to get a bite to eat,” said Minich.
Inside the well-stocked golf shop, guests will find premium apparel brands including Grayson, UNRL, Adidas, and Johnnie-O, along with an extensive selection of Titleist options, and they are expecting a shipment of the new GTS driver any day. The merchandise mix reflects Troy Burne’s effort to provide golfers with the same quality experience inside the clubhouse that they enjoy on the course.
Another growing component of the Troy Burne experience is The Aisling, the club’s elegant event and wedding venue. Overlooking the picturesque golf course, The Aisling has become a sought-after destination for weddings, receptions, corporate events, and celebrations. Couples and guests enjoy the same high level of service that golfers experience daily, creating memorable occasions in a beautiful setting that combines scenic views, outstanding cuisine, and personalized hospitality.
Ultimately, what separates Troy Burne is not simply the golf course, the restaurant, or the venue. It is the collective effort of a staff committed to making every guest feel valued. “I always tell people you can go within a 30-mile radius of here and play some excellent golf courses,” Minich said. “We understand there’s a lot of options for golfers, but we feel lucky that they choose us time and time again.”
That appreciation for every guest – and the commitment to delivering an exceptional experience both on and off the golf course – continues to make Troy Burne one of the region’s most respected golf destinations.
