Would you like to double or triple the income of your existing golf tournament? There are over 500,000 golf tournaments in the U.S. each year. The average event raises between $5,000 and $8,000. Why do some tournaments raise $80,000 to $100,000? They have a plan. They have a clear picture and goal of what they want to accomplish.

To wrap this series up, I thought it would be appropriate to acknowledge the diligent promotional agents we have – from national brands like Troon Golf, KemperSports and Buffalo Agency, local ambassadors like Steve Wetzler and Kim Benjamin of this magazine.

As the 2019 golf season winds down I propose this question, “What can you do to become better once the leaves have fallen, the frosty pumpkin is now, well frosted, and the golf courses will soon be closed up here in the Netherlands or anyplace north of the 45th parallel?”

Hard to believe, but there really are people that quit golf. Each year the National Golf Foundation releases its report on how many players have either started or quit golf and each year those numbers seem to be relatively even.

The Psychic is a man! The Psychic is a golfer! The Psychic’s golf game suffers as father time marches on. All golfers have made this statement after a bad round, “I think I will just throw my golf clubs in the trash and quit! But… what will I do then.”

This month we feature Jeff May, Manager Three Rivers Park District and Head of Golf Operations at Baker National Golf Club in Medina. Jeff makes a great point… that a round of golf can be an opportunity to make new friends and/or challenge old friends. Either way, you will be making long-lasting memories.

PEOPLE move the needle in golf, from property developers to the course architects and the people who play them, BUT… people like me won’t move far to play a course lacking good photography on its website.

Of all the rules changes for 2019, the most controversial and I believe the least understood is the ability to keep the pin in while you putt. 

I can’t believe that I’m taking on this subject. Not that I’m afraid to say how I feel… it’s that I’m really conflicted about music on golf carts.

Even though I am a card-carrying member of the AARP (hey don’t mock it… the discounts are awesome), I really don’t like to admit I am getting older.
