Golden Eagle Golf Club has been voted Minnesota’s Best Golf Course in the Star Tribune Reader’ Choice Awards for multiple years. The golf course was recently purchased by local Minnesotan, Brady Hatcher, under Anchor Point Properties Holdings, LLC.

Brady Hatcher has spent the last 25 years in the medical device development and manufacturing business. With a cabin in the area, he has been playing Golden Eagle for the past 15 years. Brady has grown to love Golden Eagle because it provides golf as a mental and physical escape from the fast-paced business world.

“Golden Eagle” (the bird) epitomizes wilderness. The giant raptor relaxes for hours in a treetops perch or drifts aimlessly on the wind currents overlooking all that Mother Nature provides. The intent of Bruce McIntosh and Mike Morley, the original golf course designers, was to give golfers views of the course seen from the eyes of a Golden Eagle. Golfers who play Golden Eagle Golf Club see the golf course from a bird’s eye perspective. Each tee is positioned high above the generous fairways, allowing golfers to embrace the entire hole. Before a golf ball is placed on the tee, golfers find an unintended moment of meditation. Framed by undisturbed forest and wetland marshes, each tee provides a photo shoot featuring dramatic elevation changes. Repeat players at Golden Eagle often comment that they discover something new each time they play this golf course. Observing the wonders of Mother Nature is a huge part of playing golf at Golden Eagle.

Brady, his wife Angie and their three children are proud to join the Golden Eagle family. They plan to continue, and enhance what makes Golden Eagle exceptional, the undisturbed wilderness. He intends to make the golfing experience even more relaxing and customer friendly. Yes, Brady Hatcher wants golfers to play and enjoy Golden Eagle, but he wants to add even more to an already relaxing nature of the business.

Easy and hassle free are the buzz words repeated at Golden Eagle Golf Club daily. These points are immediately evident when golfers enter the parking lot and observe the newly landscaped cart staging area complete with a new and very comfortable fleet of golf carts. Beautiful and effectually functional are words golfers use to describe this improvement that Brady and his family have made with their customers in mind. There is no extra charge for these “feel good” improvements.

Brady Hatcher has learned that continuity is the key to a successful business. Proof, he made no personal or management changes when they purchased the golf course. SVN | Northco, a full-service investment, hospitality and real estate firm based in Minneapolis, has been involved with Golden Eagle for 10+ years and will remain on as the management company.  Aaron Johnson who has been involved with Golden Eagle since 2019 continues to serve as general manager and golf course maintenance superintendent. Wearing two hats, the personable Johnson has his finger on the pulse of the customers. Their wants, needs and desires are utmost on his mind each day. While he oversees the experienced staff, who meticulously groom the golf course fashioned into 210 acres of wilderness, his high energy seems to be every place at the same time.

Ben Kline, the clubhouse manager with years of experience in the hospitality business in the Brainerd area, greets customers as they enter the pro shop and might be seen serving a pulled pork sandwich in the grill. Customer service has always been special at Golden Eagle and continues to be expanded and improved under Brady’s ownership.

The hilltop clubhouse, designed with a Northwoods feel, features a pro shop stocked with souvenir merchandise. The variety of top-quality shirts, sweaters and caps feature the distinctive Golden Eagle Logo that make wearing one a badge of honor. The intimate grill with a deck overlooking the ninth hole provides a variety of quick and easy meals and a full menu of relaxing adult beverages. The food is good, the beverages are cold, and the service comes with a big smile. Every feature of the clubhouse was designed to make the relaxing experience at Golden Eagle… Well relaxing.

Brady Hatcher and his family are living the dream, owning a golf course that they loved before they purchased it while giving their customers an unmatched relaxing golf experience where devices are forgotten as they soak up the tranquility of Mother Nature from the eye of a Golden Eagle.

Summer is rapidly approaching Fall when the colors at Golden Eagle are golden adding an additional element to the relaxation.
