The Players Tour
By Karla Hagen
The Players Tour is an invitational program where the Minnesota PGA Junior Golf Committee and staff determines eligibility requirements and it is open to boys and girls ages 13-19. The goal of the Players Tour is to have the top junior golfers in the Section compete on golf courses set up appropriately for a high level of play. In 2020 we changed the Players Tour to where we offered all 36-hole individual stroke play events.
The Minnesota Section PGA Players Tour Player of the Year for boys was Ryan Stendahl from Maple Grove, Minn. He played in 9 Players Tour events during the summer and compiled 959.17 points to win the award. Ryan will be a 2024 graduate. Our runner-up was Leo Gellert from North Mankato, Minn. who had 896.67 points.
The Players Tour Player of the Year for girls was Saachi Deshmukh from Plymouth, Minn. She played in 5 Players Tour events during the summer and had 645 points. Saachi will also be a 2024 graduate. We had two runner-ups for Girls Players of the Year. They both had 640 points and they were Olivia Salonek from Roseville, Minn. and Shelby Busker from Detroit Lakes, Minn.
