103rd Minnesota State Open To Be Hosted By The Royal Club
By Maggie Sutton
The Minnesota State Open, which in recent years has been held the third weekend in July, has decided to change the date and days of the week the event is played. Two contributing factors were availability of both PGA Professionals and Amateurs to play during the week rather than a weekend, and the 3M Open opting to move the PGA Tour event to the third weekend of July in 2020. Vincent Bachteler, PGA, former Director of Competitions for the Minnesota PGA, is optimistic at the chance to change up the event he helped secure.
“With the change in the 3M Open’s dates from 2019 to 2020, the Minnesota PGA took this opportunity to look at the State Open and how we can make the event better for our golfers. Taking the event from a weekend to weekdays will hopefully give more opportunities to play for participants with weekend conflicts. We’re grateful that The Royal Club was willing to partner on this new era of the Minnesota State Open and we are looking forward to stepping up this event with them.” Bachteler said.
“We are thrilled to be the host of the 103rd Minnesota State Open!” said Steven Uhl, General Manager of The Royal Club. “We, at The Royal Golf Club, truly believe in the mission of the Minnesota PGA and are honored to partner with them for such a historic event and hope to continue to grow the game of golf.”
