|Fore! Milwaukee - Where Golf Is Hot During The Cold Milwaukee Winter|
By Paul SeifertWisconsin golf enthusiasts have long endured hardship. It is a cruel, unrelenting force of nature we almost all face, repressing us indoors without our favorite hobby or satisfying ways to hone our skills or actively indulge in it. That hardship is winter, and while it still detains us from leisurely walks around scenic golf courses, it can no longer keep us from practicing and enjoying the great game of golf like it has.
These days there are more options than ever for off-season golf, and one of the most progressive of those is Fore! Milwaukee, located conveniently downtown at 530 N Water, between E Michigan and E Clybourn Streets.
Local golf icon, Tim Grogan, opened Fore! Milwaukee in the winter of 2013 out of a small downtown space. In the past couple of years, he moved the operation from its original spot to the old Ripples on Water nightclub, situated between the Shops on Water and Cheata Bikes.
Tim played college golf at UNLV, coached the Marquette University golf team for 19 years where he was named the Big East Coach of the Year twice, was named the Wisconsin PGA Teacher of the Year in 2009, the Golf Course Owners of Wisconsin Teacher of the Year twice, and has been Director of Instructional Programs at Missing Links in Mequon since 1995.
To say Tim is well known as a terrific golf coach is an understatement, but instruction is only part of Fore! Milwaukee's draw for Milwaukee area golf enthusiasts.
Fore! Milwaukee also has four high-tech Full Swing golf simulators that feature 34 golf courses and an interactive practice facility, providing players a great way to work on their swing, approach shots, chipping and putting.
The 34 tracks include Pebble Beach, St. Andrews, Torrey Pines, Cog Hill Number 4 Dubsdread, Valhalla and 28 others. High-tech simulators like these provide a significantly improved user experience against the ones many have hit balls on at golf retailers. With a price tag over $50,000 apiece, they provide consistently accurate shot shapes and flights, regardless of the club being used; the simulators even adjust for assumed wind and turf conditions.
Modern golf simulators are a great way to get a quick golf fix, and Fore! Milwaukee offers a number of ways to enjoy them, including both league and open play. Open leagues, along with leagues specific to seniors, college kids and industry members are all great options for friends to meet up for a round of golf, and membership includes a t-shirt, winter club storage and a free Miller beer each week.
Not looking for a weekly commitment? Stop in for open play or just to enjoy Fore! Milwaukee's sports bar with plenty of flat-screen televisions for all the Packers, Bucks and Badgers games - and of course plenty of great golf chat.
Looking for that unique venue for your corporate party, birthday party, bachelor party, or family get together? Fore! Milwaukee is the perfect location for a change of pace event.
For a fun, technology-forward golf-centric spot to hang out, top-notch instruction and of course the golf fix you need to survive the hardships of Wisconsin winter, make plans with your regular foursome to head downtown to Fore! Milwaukee.
