Grand View Lodge Recognizes One Millionth Golfer

Twenty-one years ago, Grand View Lodge opened the first championship golf course in the Brainerd Lakes Area, and this weekend, the resort celebrated an important milestone-one million paid golfers have experienced golf at Grand View. Recently, Grand View Lodge was recognized by Golf Magazine as Minnesota’s only Gold Medal Golf Resort, which now boasts three championship golf courses-The Pines, The Preserve and Deacon’s Lodge.

“We are very proud of the legacy and reputation for exceptional golf that we have cultivated, not only for Grand View, but for the Brainerd Lakes area,” said Mark Ronnei, General Manager at Grand View Lodge. “Just like everything else in this tough economy, golf has suffered, but the fact that we are celebrating our one millionth golfer indicates that the game of golf is still very much alive and well.”

On Saturday June 5, Mark Schrantz of Roseville, Minnesota–a member at Highland National in St. Paul–was recognized as the one millionth paid golfer at Grand View Lodge. The celebration of this important milestone included presenting Mark with a collection of items from the golf pro shops and a gift certificate which entitles him to return to Grand View in the fall for a golf group getaway for himself and seven friends.

“The impact of the vision and leadership of Fred Boos and the owners of Grand View Lodge in building The Pines can’t be overstated. Before 1990, no one mentioned golf and Brainerd in the same sentence. Today the area is considered one of the top golf destinations in the country,” said Tom Ryan, Executive Director of the Minnesota Golf Association (MGA). “All of us at the MGA congratulate Grand View Lodge on this important milestone.”

Grand View Lodge offers 63 holes of championship golf, spanning three distinct courses that challenge and inspire golfers at all levels of play. Each course provides a unique and unforgettable golf experience with breathtaking scenery and strategic designs. Learn more about Grand View’s award-winning golf at grandviewlodge.com.
